Welcome to AboutChess, here you will find guides on how to become a better chess player, we have material from Beginner to Intermediate and Advance. We ask all the new Chess Players who are just beginning to start with the Beginner Section and then Move on to Intermediate and then Advance. We also ask the new players to go through each step one by one. When you start from Beginner make sure you go through each exercises at least 3 times before you move to the next level, we have Beginner section for Tactics, Strategy, Endgame and few other exercises.

We have annotated games which are mainly for Intermediates. Our advice for the beginners is to start with the basics and then move on to advance ones. We have made it fairly easy for beginners to get started. Soon we will be adding learning programs and tools to further enchance and speed up your learning experience.

If you have questions, comments or feedback please Contact Us through the contact form and we will get back to you at soonest possible.

It is our guarantee that if you go through all the exercises at least 3 times you will improve your game significantly. If you really want to become a good chess player you must always play with other human players it does not matter if you lose, the more you lose the better you get, none of us learnt it by heart, it took time and years of practice, thus give it some time and you will get better. We also advice the beginners to analyze their game and see why they couldn’t win a certain game. From our experience we have found out that most Beginners problem lie in the opening where they always make mistake. You must choose an opening and stick to it for at least 50 games to get an idea of different variations. It is also recommended to start with basic/easy opening variations such as Ruy Lopez instead of Gambits or Sicilian or other advance openings which require a good positional understanding of game, it is useless to make moves when you have no idea why you made that move and what significance that move has on the game.

Start with the easy ones build on it and then move to the harder ones.

If you are ready to dive into the exercises then please check the categories on the right hand side and start with the beginner section. We recommend you start with tactics before you do anything else.

We have articles on Chess as well, which you should read if you want to further enhance your learning experience and speed up the process.
